Our Story and How The Adventure Started
The risky adventure started in the 1950’s by the late Harry Beingessner, a man with a big family and few resources. Long hours and persistent determination slowly paid off. Harry’s son, Doug, remembers quite clearly his father’s decision to embark on a career in the window business. That was way back in 1956. With a good knowledge of the construction business, an old Dodge station wagon and lots of enthusiasm, H. Beingessner Products Ltd. was started. By today’s standards it was indeed a small business, but one that grew steadily.
Back then, a large part of the business involved the supply and installation of aluminum storm windows and doors with self-storing screens. Awnings, railings and patio doors soon became readily available and their popularity grew in leaps and bounds. New sliding windows soon became available for homes. They were quite classy and gave homeowners another option over the older style wooden double hung units. Energy efficiency wasn’t very important in those days as most windows were made with narrow aluminum frames and almost no weather stripping.
About the same time, aluminum siding with a painted finish was introduced to the industry. Along with other related sidings and accessories, homeowners could now have a maintenance-free exterior on their homes. Harry was quick to recognize this opportunity and was soon installing this new product on existing homes as well as new ones.
With a sound reputation for excellent service and quality products, business flourished. Tradesmen were hired to complete the installation on a wide variety of buildings. New homes under construction, existing older homes, commercial structures, agricultural buildings, as well as churches, cottages, nursing homes and even tool sheds were refurbished with new siding and windows.
Just as everything seemed to be going great, Harry died in 1972 at the young age of 52. It was shortly after that Doug Beingessner moved the business to St. Jacobs where it is located today at 9 Henry Street. Doug’s mother, Anne, helped out in the office until her retirement.
Being a family business means long hours, hard work and dedication by all. Doug’s wife Lynne, their daughter Jennifer, and son Chris, all played a role. Over the years, the focus was shifted to an even more personalized direction. Most of our work now involves dealing with private homeowners and custom home renovators. Dealing with the individual homeowner enables us to offer a wide range of options as each job is customized to best suit the customer’s needs and budget at the same time. Special attention is now given to such things as energy efficiency and environmental friendliness. We’re proud that recycling and re-using materials have become a routine.
Doug and Lynne Beingessner are now retired, and Beingessner Home Exteriors is run by their daughter Jennifer, and long-time employee Barry Jantzi.

Jennifer is the third generation of Beingessner Home Exteriors. Born into the business, Jennifer has lifelong experience and an extensive knowledge of home exterior construction, design and renovation. Jennifer looks after the accounting and internal operations, as well as customer service and sales. Jennifer is President of the National Board of the Siding and Window Dealers Association of Canada (S.A.W.D.A.C.). Jennifer has chosen this lifelong career not only because she has a love for the business and its customers, but also a true enjoyment of working with people who are like family every day. She feels it’s important to have a job you enjoy and work with people who challenge you to be better. Beingessner Home Exteriors has always been at the top of their industry and Jennifer has played an important role in the company’s success. She believes the success comes from staying ahead of new trends in the exterior renovation market, as well as ensuring employee education on the latest products and efficient methods of installation to benefit customers. Treating customers with kindness, fairness and respect have also gone a long way for the success of the business, which is shown by the number of referrals and repeat business each year. Barry has been with Beingessner Home Exteriors since March of 1992. Now in his 32nd year with the company, Barry is an expert in the industry and knows every aspect of the business inside and out. Barry began as an installer’s assistant and quickly made the transition to sales. He now looks after the running of daily operations, including: coordinating installations, customer sales, managing projects, installation inspections and general management. His extensive knowledge and experience in the industry are invaluable when working with customers, other contractors and his team. Barry has a true passion for helping customers realize the potential of their homes. The tough days are worth it when he sees how happy homeowners are after viewing the transformation of their homes. Barry is always trying to stay ahead of the industry by ensuring all of his installers are up to date with best practices and methods of installation. Barry attributes great service and quality workmanship as reasons why Beingessner’s has remained an industry leader in the tri-city area for so many years. Kyle started full-time at Beingessner Home Exteriors over 9 years ago. He made the switch from Sunlife Financial to begin his sales career at Beingessner. Although Kyle may be newer to the sales team, he is not new to exterior renovation. Kyle spent many summers working as an installers assistant learning the ins and outs of proper installation techniques. His knowledge is truly an asset to any customer he is working with. Kyle enjoys working at Beingessner because he loves the team atmosphere. He feels that everyone at Beingessner works together very well to ensure every job is completed over and above the customer’s expectations. Kyle believes Beingessner has remained an industry leader because of the way we strive to provide an inviting and low pressure sales approach for our customers. The customer’s communicate their plans and ambitions, and we simply help make them a reality.
